Manoj’s Journey

From Nepal’s Heritage to Australia’s Craft
Manoj Shrestha grew up in a proud Newar family in Nepal, where brewing and distilling were a way of life. His grandparents taught him the art of making Chhaang and Raksi, passing down recipes that carried centuries of Himalayan tradition.
When Manoj migrated to Australia, he brought these memories and skills with him. His dream was to share the authentic taste of Raksi with Nepalese abroad and introduce it to the global market.
Partnering with IAB Australia Pty Ltd, Manoj developed the recipes, while IAB handled commercial distillation, bottling, and distribution. Together, they created Chhaangster Raksi — a premium Nepalese-style spirit, refined in Australia but rooted in Himalayan heritage.

Raksi in Nepali Festivals

In Nepal, Raksi is more than just a drink — it’s part of every celebration. From Dashain to Tihar, from weddings to Indra Jatra, Raksi flows as a symbol of joy, hospitality, and community. Traditionally brewed and served in gatherings, it connects generations and strengthens bonds.
Tradition Meets Modern Spirit
For centuries, Raksi has been offered in rituals, served to guests as a gesture of respect, and enjoyed during festivals. Today, Chhaangster carries that same heritage — distilled with precision in Australia and crafted for both traditional sipping and bold cocktails.
